Wedding photography that celebrates you

Be excited! You’re getting married, all your people will be there, all your favourite things, your best songs, your perfect flowers, a feast to die for, in a dream venue. Hug that feeling of excitement close to you. This is the start of your adventure.

Let me capture it for you.

The Becky Kerr Photography Experience

It’s just one day. One day. But months and months of dreaming and careful planning. Some things will turn out exactly as you envisaged, others will surprise you. But one thing you want to be sure of is capturing each moment - the magical moments, the unexpected moments and the moments that you didn’t even see on your wedding day because you were caught up in the excitement.

And that’s where I come in.

Your wedding photography story

I like my wedding photography to tell a tale, and there’s no story more important than that of your love and the day you said ‘I do’. My photographic style is documentary; it’s weaving a tale that I hope you will look at and retell again and again.

I capture the big moments, from that anticipatory second before the bride enters on her father’s arm, to the unabashed joy of the last few bars of a first dance.

But I document the ‘small’ moments, too: a look of comradeship between bridesmaids, a foot slipping perfectly into a bridal shoe, a tired-out flower girl asleep on her Granny’s shoulder. These are the moments that make your wedding and that you don’t always have a chance to see otherwise.

I love detail shots and always ensure I capture each carefully thought-out favour, each button hole, and every little element that I know you’ll have spent months planning and putting into effect, so that it’s all there for you to look back on one day. My approach is gentle, never pushy. I want you to relax, let your best selves shine through. I aim to let the couple ‘fall into’ the moment, before I start snapping, allowing me to take photographs that are always natural, not posed. Usually, I take the bride and groom away from the melee for a short while to have some fun taking photos that will capture the best of your venue, whether that’s artistic shots making use of the architecture or a perfectly timed outdoor sunset. I am familiar with almost all the venues in my ‘patch’ but I also do my research thoroughly beforehand so that I know exactly where the light falls best at each time of day and where to head to for the most beautiful pictures. I’ll guide you gently to the best shots, listening to you both every step of the way.

And because I love a good story I’m always in the background at the party, unobtrusive, but listening to your guests, so I can snatch that shot of friends who’ve not met up in years squealing across a room, or a bride throwing her arms around her dad in a sudden hug. Because you can stage anything you want in a photography but you have to be quick to capture real feelings and emotions in an image.

And as the party is in full swing, with your blessing, I’ll disappear, leaving you to enjoy your evening and let your hair down, safe in the knowledge there’ll be no photographic evidence of the more ‘tired and emotional’ moments in the bar!

Choosing a wedding photographer

This is a huge decision; you need to think not just about the style you are looking for for your pictures, but also whether the photographer is someone you want beside you on the biggest day of your life. As well as coming away with stunning photos that you adore, I want you to look back on the experience of having your photos taken and smile. I want you to have fun.

My decades of experience as a photographer, and 13 plus years specialising in wedding photography, have taught me that it is a craft that takes time. It takes time to learn and develop and become the best, and it takes time to create beautiful photography of your wedding day. And so I offer you my time, both my years of experience and my full attention for your big day.

I limit the number of weddings I photograph because I prefer to provide a higher quality service with fewer couples on my calendar. I believe firmly that each couple needs my time in the run-up to the wedding as

well as on the day itself. I want my clients to feel completely at ease with me, so we meet beforehand to discuss what I can do for you and what your wishes and hopes are.

Whether you’re just a bit camera shy or are feeling at sea with all the preparations, I will talk you through your day in images, give you lots of advice on how to get the most out of the experience and from your photos and make sure that you feel completely at ease, that you’re in a safe pair of hands. Many of my wedding couples come through word-of-mouth recommendations. My clients tell me that they value my gentle, calm and relaxed approach and my warm manner, and that makes me very happy indeed. I think I have an unparalleled ‘bride-side manner’. No one should feel hurried or harassed on their wedding day. I aim to make the experience a pleasure from start to finish. From our first meeting to the day I hand you your pictures.

I am based in the beautiful town of Ampthill and I photograph luxury weddings across Bedfordshire, Hertfordshire, Buckinghamshire and London. I am proud to be a frequently recommended and trusted photographer at wedding venues such as Woburn Sculpture Gallery, Wrest Park, The Priory Barns and Moggerhanger Park.

However, I have also acted as a wedding photographer for overseas weddings, so whether you’re planning a beach wedding in Bali or rustic nuptials in an Italian olive grove, I’m happy to help.
